Manuscript Preparation and Submission
- All authors who intend to submit their papers to this journal must carefully read the instruction guidelines for submission and prepare their manuscript accordingly. Processing of the manuscripts that do not conform to the journal guidelines might take longer than usual. Manuscripts not adhering to these instructions will be sent back to the authors for preparation subsequent to being processed.
- All manuscripts must be prepared and submitted in Microsoft Word format.
- All manuscripts must be submitted online through the website submission system, and all correspondence will be done via email with the corresponding author who accepts the responsibility to be available and in contact with the journal on behalf of his/her co-authors of the manuscript.
- The corresponding author should be also available to provide appropriate responses and evidence in case questions or critiques arise regarding the manuscript even after its publication.

- If any table or figure in the manuscript is taken from other published materials, necessary permissions should be obtained by the corresponding author from the copyright holder.
- All manuscripts must be accompanied by a title page including information about the title of the manuscript as well as each author’s full name, affiliation, email address, phone number, ORCID ID, bio statement (50 words), and the specification of the corresponding author of the manuscript.
- A cover letter should be also sent as a separate file along with the manuscript, in which the authors should explain the aim, novelty, and major contributions of their work to the field of L2 education.
- The corresponding author should be ready to send the raw data relating to their manuscript upon request of the editor.
- All manuscripts should be prepared in two formats: (1) manuscript with authors’ information; (2) anonymized manuscript, in which any identifying information of the authors that might reveal their identity to the reviewers should be blinded.
- All manuscripts should be written in accordance with the standard usage of English, and should be formatted in tune with the latest edition of APA (7th edition).
- All manuscripts should be between 6000 and 9000 words in length excluding tables and references.
- Tables and figures should be numbered in the order presented in the manuscript and should be provided with appropriate captions.
- Figures should be of high resolution, and they should be consistent in terms of their font and size, and their content should be sufficiently legible.
- Upon submission of their manuscripts, authors are required to upload the completed and signed Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commitment Form.
- Abstracts should be between 150 and 200 words accompanied by 5 to 7 keywords. The abstract should be unstructured and should contain information regarding the purpose, methods, results, implications, and conclusions of the work. Each paper should include the following necessary elements:
- Title
- Abstract
- Keywords
- Introduction
- Discussion of Literature
- Methodology and Data or Other Materials
- Implications and Conclusion
- References
- In line with the qualitative nature of the manuscripts submitted and published in this journal, all manuscripts should address the following issues in their method section: researchers’ positionality and biases, ethical issues, analytical procedure, and trustworthiness principles of qualitative research (i.e., credibility, transferability, dependability, confirmability, as recommended by Lincoln, Y., & Guba, E. (1985). Naturalistic inquiry. Beverly Hills, CA: Sage).
- In case a manuscript has supplementary material, it should be sent as a separate file along with their manuscript upon submission.
Manuscript Processing and Reviewing
- Initial processing of the submitted manuscripts takes about 10 days. The review process generally takes three months.
- At least three reviewers will be selected by the editor-in-chief to review the blind version of a manuscript independently.
- The identity of the reviewers will be kept confidential and will not be revealed to the authors even after publication.
- The editor-in-chief will decide about whether a manuscript should be rejected, accepted, or revised for publication.
- Revisions of a manuscript upon request by the authors do not guarantee its acceptance for publication.
- When submitting the revised version of the manuscript to the journal, the authors should also upload a response letter in which they should elaborate on how they addressed the reviewers’ comments on their manuscript.
- Manuscripts are generally evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Novelty
- Originality
- Significance and contribution to the filed
- Quality and organization of language
- Relevance to the field and the journal’s audience
- Methodological rigor and transparency
- Sound justifications and rationales
- Reasonable conclusions
- Adequate discussions
- Theoretical richness
- Practicality
- Before any processing, all manuscripts will be first checked for plagiarism through iThenticate. Those paper with similarity index above 10% will be instantly rejected.
- After being processed, the manuscript might be rejected, accepted without requirement for any revision, require minor revision, require major revision, or might be rejected.
Accepted Papers

Accepted papers will be made online after being gone through careful editorial editing and revisions. The corrected proof version of the paper will be published online some weeks after the announcement of paper acceptance.
